Packing up his van—
The singing rodeo-man
That I had seen inside
The hotel bar The Hidden Lagoon.
Songs were all about cowboy life,
Romance and lonesome moons.
Scars along his arm.
And I wondered what kind of harm
That he had gotten into
When he still had his youth.
Bloody fights by the campfire
With knives and fists and boots.

At the orgies that he threw.

To an apartment house

Chinese family—
Lived down the street from me.
